Travel Diaries: Rome Day 2

Friday, October 31, 2014

So, I've finally gotten around to writing up part two of my travel diaries for my trip to Europe back in August! At this rate, I'll probably still be writing about this until January, haha.

So, my second day was spent in Rome as well. This photo is of the basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, which was just around the corner of my hotel. Can't get over how gorgeous this facade is! This place is pretty underrated, with all the churches in Rome, but I think it's definitely worth a visit (especially since admission is free)

Rome is all about walking, since you get to see so much more that way. This was a pretty tree-lined street while walking to the next place.

3.
Second church of the day, was the Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano. This one of Rome's most famous churches, and it was also really gorgeous, and filled with tourists. Excuse the sticker, my face looked awkward in this photo :)

4.

The frescoed ceilings inside the church. There is honestly just way too much stuff for you eyes to look at inside the churches, I can't even process all of it, haha. Why can't my house look like that?

5.
Gelato break! Did not go a single day without eating at least once (or twice)this in Italy. In my defense, I rarely eat ice cream at home, so it's justified :)

6.
And of course, the famous Colosseum! Not as ornate as the churches, but still pretty impressive considering how darn old it is. Filled with a million tourists, of which I was one. The number of people taking selfies here even put me to shame

7.
And here's a picture of me taking a picture

8.
Saw lots of these strange floating guys around Rome. I actually really liked how many street musicians there were though, the live music makes everything feel like a movie.

9.
The Piazza Navona in the early evening. Basically, more pretty buildings!

10.
And finally, the delicious pizza that was for dinner.

So, I hoped you all enjoyed reading this post, it's actually pretty fun for me to write them and pick through all my photos, it's like going on vacation again! Thinking that I was there less than two months ago while right now I'm drowning in homework is a little saddening but that's okay :)
Thanks for reading, and look out for my next parts coming (hopefully) soon!
