Back with another review from the FaceShop's Clean Face line!
Previously, I did a review on the foam cleanser from this line. The toner and lotion were in my haul from a few posts ago, and I got a few requests to review these, so here it is!

A brief recap, in case you didn't read my last review, this line is targeted towards oily and acne-prone skin types. This fits my skin type quite well, as my skin is SUPER oily, and I have acne, sadly :( I don't really believe in any miracle products for acne, but it's still important to find good skincare products that suit your skin type!  I mentioned that this line might not be great if you have very sensitive skin, as the cleanser was quite drying.

Here's a picture of the bottles, and the descriptions. Tea tree oil is the key "advertised" ingredient in the toner and lotion. I got these two from the Face Shop store, for $13.00 each.
The packaging is good quality - two thick glass bottles. But it is sooooooo inconvenient, especially for the lotion. Even if I hold the bottle downwards for a long time, the lotion doesn't come out, and I have to shake the bottle like a crazy person to get it out, and it's really hard to control the amount that comes out. Why in the world would you put lotion in a glass bottle anyways? It got a little easier to get the lotion out once the bottle wasn't so full for some reason, thankfully!

Here's the back of the bottles, with the full ingredient list in English and Korean. (Toner on the right and lotion on the left) So, I'll briefly go over some of the ingredients in here.

Ingredients:
*ingredients present in both lotion and toner unless otherwise stated
Alcohol (toner): Like many toners, this one lists alcohol as it's second ingredient (after water). Alcohol does clean your skin, but it can be drying to your skin and is kind of a "harsh" ingredient. That's why this, like the cleanser, I would really recommend if you have sensitive skin. My skin isn't very sensitive, so I didn't have any issues with high amount of alcohol in the product.
Mineral Oil (lotion): The main ingredient in the lotion, after water. It's basically a clear oil that is often used in cosmetics. It's sometimes thought of as unsafe because it's derived from petroleum, but it's actually quite safe because once it becomes mineral oil it's perfectly safe to use on the skin, and is a natural ingredient. In fact, it's found to be non-comedogenic (doesn't clog pores) and non-irritating.
Althaea officinalis leaf/root extract:  the fancy name for marshmallow plant extract. Is anti-flammatory and has soothing properties for the skin.
Chamomilla Recutita Flower extract: German chamomile flower extract. Antioxidant, anti-bacterial and anti-flammatory properties. Is skin-smoothing and is good for treating acne.
Melaleuca Alternifola leaf oil: Tea tree oil. The "advertised" ingredient of the products. anti-flammatory, antioxidant properties. Also disinfecting, and is often used to put on pimples in small amounts, because too much of it can be too harsh on skin.

As you can probably tell from the ingredient lists, there are really A LOT of ingredients in these products, so I'm obviously not going to over all of them. But these ones are some of the important ones that actually do something, since many of the ingredients are simply thickeners or hold the rest of the ingredients together.
Also, there is fragrance in both of these products. They both have that typical "faceshop" smell that many of their products have, if you've ever tried their products before you might have noticed. It's a slightly floral scent, and I personally really like it, but if you don't like scented products or are allergic, I wouldn't recommend this!

That's what the lotion looks like, it's not too thick, but it doesn't take a while to absorb into your skin. A little bit goes a long way! I think it does a pretty good job of moisturizing, especially after the drying effects of the cleanser. But, if you're more used to the gel type of moisturizer, you might not like this one because it still feels a little more greasy, probably due to the mineral oil. The toner is basically just clear liquid so I didn't think there was a point in showing a photo of that haha.

Overview:
Pros
+ Didn't break me out
+ The lotion is very moisturizing
+ good price, and a little bit of product goes a long way.
+ lots of good natural plant extracts that are great for acne/oily skin

Cons
- a lot of alcohol in the toner
- Scent is a bit strong
- extremely inconvenient packaging lol

Overall: These products were pretty good for my skin, although may not be suitable for certain skin types.
I got these from the actual faceshop store, but you can get the toner and the lotion  online from amazon!

Have you tried products from this line before? What toner and lotion are you currently using? Let me know in the comments :)

  1. This sounds interesting! Usually people tell me tea tree oil is too harsh.. so I try to stay away from such products.. but it doesn't sound that bad mixed in with other ingredients haha

  2. I think the packaging looks really pretty but it's a shame that it's inconvenient to use! I might give the toner a try because I'm running out of mine and I'm glad it has tea tree oil because my face is really oily ^_____^
